Margarita: Useful Information For Travellers
Isla Margarita is an offshore island of Venezuela.
The official language is Spanish.
Good bus connections and cheap taxis (negotiate about the prices before departure). Rental cars are available for approx. 50 US$ a day.
Currency & banking
Local currency is the Bolivar (BS). Credit cards and travel cheques are generally accepted at hotels, shops and car rental agencies.
Tropical. Pleasant temperatures all year round.
No immunization required. Nevertheless it is recommended, especially for individualistic travellers, to get a vaccination against hepatitis A, yellow fever and typhoid.

There are several internet cafés nearby or even in the hotels.
110-volt alternating current. An American adapter plug is necessary.
