Rhodes: Useful Information For Travellers


Greek is the native language of the people of Rhodes. However, people working in the hotels and shops usually speak English and German.

Getting there

By plane: Rhodes is served by Diagoras International Airport with the IATA code RHO. The airport is located on the west coast about 14 km from Rhodes Town. There are regular flights to and from Athens, Thessaloniki, and Crete; charter airlines connect Rhodes with many major cities all over Europe.

By boat: Rhodes is accessable via ferry from Symi, Tilos, and Bodrum, as well as Datca and Marmaris in Turkey. Cruise ships dock at the Commercial Port, east of Rhodes (city)'s Old Town.

Getting around

Rental cars can be booked at the airport or via any hotel and at many local dealers.
Public buses operate throughout the islands. Tickets can also be bought at the ticket booths, in the bus from a cashier or directly from the driver.

Euro. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.
